Dr. Darren D. Blackston is a Career Educator, Policy Advisor, and Keynote Speaker. He is the Executive Director of Adult & Continuing Education, Workforce Development and Training, and Graduate Operations at Delaware State University. He also leads the University’s Assessment Center, the Connected Degree Program, and serves as Professor of Graduate Research. His professional experience spans K-12 Education, Higher Education, Internation Education, Policy Development and Juvenile Justice. Dr. Blackston's research interests include policy development, intellectual poverty, the gravity of racism, workforce development, disparities in the criminal justice system, teacher training, and African American leadership. He is a member of the National Alliance of Black School Educators; National Speakers Association; Equality and Justice Council, Rotary International, State of Delaware Chamber of Commerce, and Delaware’s Black Leader Council, Dr. Blackston is also a Board Member of the United Way of Delaware; First State Community Action, and several others. Dr. Blackston has been honored by the Delaware State Senate, Delaware House of Representatives, the Harvard Club of Delaware, Harvard University, Rotary International, the Police Athletic League, and other organizations for his academic and humanitarian efforts. Dr. Blackston regularly advises students, policy makers, and the private sector on methods to serve all citizens fairly and equitably. Dr. Blackston resides in Middletown, Delaware.
